Well, it’s all come down to this. Hopefully your league has set the championship round for this week, and hopefully, you’re still in it. This playoff season has handed down some seriously problematic injuries, load management, and shutdown/petty minute reductions. If you were relying on top 60 studs like Anthony Davis, LeBron, Jrue Holiday, Otto Porter, CJ McCollum, and Malcolm Brogdon…you have my condolences. Also unfortunate, is that there haven’t really been many clear cut beneficiaries to these injuries and no obvious pickup. Though if you’re still here, you probably were able to dodge most of these key injuries/issues.
Ideally, you are able to maintain a streaming spot or two, because maximizing games becomes vital at this point. If you are in a redraft league, there is no need to show allegiance to any player. Do what it takes to win now. For this final edition of WWW on the 2018-19 season, I’ll focus on players that are available in 50% or more leagues and could also potentially play 4 games for the week.
DJ AUGUSTIN – ORLANDO MAGIC PG
Strengths: Assists, Steals, Percentages
Availability: 52% of Yahoo Leagues
While we shouldn’t get carried away, Augustin is sporting a top 60 value in fantasy over the last 2 weeks, near top 20 over the last week. He appears to be firing on all cylinders at just the right moment for fantasy GMs, so go pick up the forgotten point guard.
SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER – LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS PG
Strengths: Assists, FG%, Steals
Availability: 55% of Yahoo Leagues
Similar to Augustin, Shai has been coming in hot at a great time. He’s offering up great assists, FG%, and steals over the last week, as well as solid points and 3’s. He’s been cold from the line which has held him back some, but know that he’s shooting just under 80% for the season, so this dip should correct itself.
KENTAVIOUS CALDWELL-POPE – LOS ANGELES LAKERS SG
Strengths: 3’s, FT%
Availability: 58% of Yahoo Leagues
With so many Lakers injured or resting, there was a vacuum created for scoring and KCP answered the bell to the tune of a 35 point night against the Bucks. A lot of his value still depends on the status of LeBron, but he’s not a bad end of the bench guy to help maximize games.
JOAKIM NOAH – MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES C
Strengths: Boards, Blocks, FG%
Availability: 70% of Yahoo Leagues
He’s a pickup strictly if you need help in the above categories. Overall he’s probably not a standard league relevant player, but he can definitely help in boards and blocks while not hurting your free throw percentages.
WAYNE ELLINGTON – DETROIT PISTONS SG
Strengths: 3’s, Points
Availability: 72% of Yahoo Leagues
Ellington has blown up over his last 2, scoring 25 and 23 points, along with 13 combined 3’s over that span. He doesn’t help you out in much else, but if you need some scoring and 3’s help, those 4 games coming up should be valuable.
THOMAS BRYANT – WASHINGTON WIZARDS C
Strengths: Boards, Percentages
Availability: 74% of Yahoo Leagues
Unlike many of the centers on this list, TB can offer up some value in multiple categories, including points and occasionally 3’s and steals. Playing for the doomed Wiz, he should see his minutes continue to be high-ish (assuming he can bypass Bobby Portis) and he’s shown he can produce when given the opportunity.
IVICA ZUBAC – LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS C
Strengths: Boards, FG%
Availability: 78% of Yahoo Leagues
If you need to beef up those rebounding numbers, Zubac is capable of getting double digits at any moment. You get 4 chances here. He’s not much help in most of the other cats though.
DELON WRIGHT – MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES SG
Availability: 79% of Yahoo Leagues
Delon benefits from the Avery Bradley injury and should find himself starting for at least a few games. He should also have some even bigger upside potential when Conley sits games. His first start for Bradley didn’t go well, but the 41 minutes is obviously a positive sign.
MASON PLUMLEE – DENVER NUGGETS C
Strengths: Blocks, Assists, FG%
Availability: 83% of Yahoo Leagues
Deeper leagues may want to consider adding Plumlee off of the strength of his stocks, FG% and out of position assists. On the season he’s almost going for 2 combined stocks and nearly 3 assists in just 20 minutes per game. Just know that if you grab him, your free throw shooting will take a hit.
ALEX CARUSO – LOS ANGELES LAKERS SG
Strengths: Steals, Percentages
Availability: 88% of Yahoo Leagues
Caruso has been a sneaky productive player of late, benefitting from the injuries. When given the chance, he seems to do well setting up the offense and putting up nice numbers across the board. His last game was a stinker from the field, but don’t let that hold you back. If set loose, he could really help fantasy teams out. Keep in mind that he went off for 8 combined stocks a few games ago.
MOE HARKLESS – PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS SF
Strengths: Steals, Blocks, FG%
Availability: 89% of Yahoo Leagues
If you’re looking for a defensive numbers boost along with some solid FG%, Moe could be your guy. The 4 games could potentially add up to 12 stocks for your fantasy squad.
CHANDLER PARSONS – MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES SF
Strengths: 3’s, Steals, Scoring
Availability: 97% of Yahoo Leagues
It’s an extremely tiny sample size, but over the last 2 games, Parsons has looked renewed, hitting a ton of 3’s, swiping the ball, and scoring a solid amount, while remaining efficient. You’re right to be skeptical, but with Avery Bradley hurt, there’s some opportunity floating around in Memphis, and he could potentially end this on a good note.
TROY BROWN – WASHINGTON WIZARDS SF
Strengths: Boards, Assists
Availability: 98% of Yahoo Leagues
He’s still a pretty raw rookie that hasn’t seen a lot of time on the floor, but he’s gotten over 20 minutes in his last 4 and over 30 in his last 2. With Ariza dealing with an injured groin, and with the Wizards done, it would behoove them to see what they have in this kid. He translates to a playmaking wing with defensive potential but definitely has room to improve on his shooting. Think Evan Turner. He could end up being a surprise impact player this week with 4 games.
TORREY CRAIG – DENVER NUGGETS SF
Strengths: 3’s, Boards, Assists
Availability: 99% of Yahoo Leagues
While Craig finds himself in a crowded roster, he was previously able to carve out a nice role in the rotation, filling in for injured players, and proving himself to be a quality defensive asset. He’s managed 2 nice back-to-back games, so those in deep leagues should pay attention as he can put up some passable lines.
